On Monday, March 3, the court of Krasnoglinsky district of Samara began to consider the criminal case. Two defendants - Anar Huseynov and Artem Airapetyan - were charged under part 3 of article 238 of the criminal code of the Russian Federation ("Production and sale of alcohol-containing products that do not meet safety requirements, a group of persons by prior agreement, which led to the death of two or more persons by negligence"), reports TASS. "I do not recognize the guilt in part by a group of persons by prior conspiracy," Anar Huseynov said. Artem Hayrapetyan expressed the same position. During the preliminary hearing of the case on February 25 this year, Huseynov petitioned the Krasnoglisky court to terminate the criminal case. He was denied the application. In 2023, 50 people died from surrogate cider poisoning and another 66 were injured in the Kurgan, Nizhny Novgorod, Penza, Samara and Ulyanovsk regions, as well as in Mari El, Udmurtia and Chuvashia. After mass cases of poisoning, more than 70 liters of Mr. cider were seized from circulation in Russia.
