The Human Rights Commissioner in Udmurtia, Viktor Kushko, proposed expanding the category of recipients of support measures in case of the death of relatives in the Special Volunteer Unit (SVU). During the session of the State Council on Tuesday, February 25, he suggested including grandmothers, grandfathers, and other relatives who raised a fighter left without parental care in this list. "The category of actual caregivers is not taken into account in our documents. Participation in upbringing is confirmed by a court decision. I propose to include this category among those receiving support measures, as has been done at the federal level," Viktor Kushko noted. He added that the relatives of deceased fighters often notice different practices in providing social support measures in different regions. It is worth noting that in 2024, the Udmurtia ombudsman received 600 requests for the search for SVU participants.
