Watanabe expressed support for the neutral status of athletes, which is an important aspect of the development of the sport. The election of a new IOC president is scheduled for the 143rd session of the organization, which will be held in Greece from 18 to 21 March 2025. IOC President Thomas Bach will step down on June 23.
