📝 Summary

The Chairman of the Duma Committee on defense, Colonel-General Andrei Kartapolov questioned the implementation of the EU plan for rearmament of 800 billion euros.

The EU will not have enough resources to restore the production of materials for military operations, Andrei Kartapolov said on the air of the Rossiya TV channel. "They have nothing. Everything they had, they had taken long ago. It takes years to start production again. This is not Russia, which in a matter of months restored the production of all the materials and ammunition necessary for the front, and much more. They can't do that. They will take time, he said. The MP noted that the implementation of the proposed plan and difficulties with resources complicate. “They need to buy raw materials in order to produce it all. How much does it cost a kilowatt-hour of electricity? They wanted it to be worth it. <...> So everything they do will go again at the expense of cutting all social programs. They will not print money, they will take it from their people, their people. Today, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen sent a rearmament plan to the leaders of the 27 EU countries. It proposed that states increase defense spending by 1.5% of GDP. This, in her opinion, will free up 650 billion euros over four years.
