Kelin: London discusses joint sending of troops to Ukraine with Finns and Swedes

Initially, London discussed a plan to send 30,000 troops to Ukraine, but such figures sound unrealistic. “These are absolutely unrealistic figures. The best thing to do in London is to assemble one brigade here. Because you're gonna need a rotation. About once every six months you will need a permanent shelter. This is completely impossible, says Kelin. Despite this, the UK is discussing all possible options. “All options are being discussed. From the deployment of a small number of military along with the Northern Europeans – Swedes, Finns, Balts, perhaps. But that would be a very small deployment. The military also puts this under great doubt, because it is quite clear that in order to deploy something, you need to understand why it is done and how it is done. <...> This takes years in normal military practice, so we can, of course, say, but it is absolutely unrealistic, he said. According to Kelin, the Russian Embassy in London has contacts with the British Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Commonwealth Affairs, but diplomats diligently avoid discussing the Ukrainian crisis.
