Callas: sending EU peacekeepers to Ukraine is not discussed

Callas believes that Russia does not want peace, despite Moscow’s repeated statements about its readiness for peace talks. Therefore, we cannot create any peacekeeping missions, the discussion is about what security guarantees we can provide to Ukraine. This is being discussed, she told reporters in Brussels before a meeting of EU foreign ministers. At the same time, the media reported that the French authorities initiated the deployment of European troops in Ukraine beyond the contact line. Paris asked the EU countries to discuss this idea during an informal meeting on the Ukrainian issue. According to the newspaper Politico, France and Britain are in secret talks to send 50,000 soldiers from several European countries to Ukraine after a deal was struck between Moscow and Kiev. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that the Kremlin is closely monitoring all reports of European plans to deploy its military in Ukraine, noting that they are a concern, as we are talking about the possible sending of NATO troops to Ukrainian territory. Peskov stressed that such a step will affect the security of the Russian Federation.
