📝 Summary

She is the author of a book about Wagner in the series Life of Wonderful People.

Wagner probably didn't care so much about harmony in the world. Although he was very unhappy with many things, he was disappointed in absolute monarchy, and was immediately disappointed in the revolution he had participated in and had to flee Germany. Five years after Lohengrin he did not write, he wrote articles: “Artwork of the Future”, “Art and Revolution” – almost in the spirit of the manifestos of the 17th revolution in Russia. Alexander Blok, by the way, said many years later: "When the revolution begins to sound in the air, the art of Wagner sounds in response." Always dissatisfied genius, dissatisfied primarily with the way art is made. His contemporary German conductor Hermann Levy called him a terrorist in music. A troubled man, he could not escape the attacks. Claude Debussy: Music has long preserved a trace of Wagnerian grip, a fever incurable in all who inhaled its swamp fumes. The Saxon dwarf with phenomenal talent and insignificant character is the opinion of Thomas Mann. He had a bad reputation. But what of it? Perhaps the genius of the artist overshadows all his vices, except that direct villainy. Let’s listen to the modern researcher Maria Zalesskaya, she is the author of a book about Wagner in the series “Life of wonderful people”, the editor-in-chief of the publishing house “Young Guard”, it has been publishing this series for almost 90 years.
