The Bolshoi Theatre dedicated the exhibition to Wagner’s operas

An exhibition devoted to the history of Wagner's productions opened at the Bolshoi Theatre, where the world of Valkyries and Nibelungs was created on stage by famous artists from Konstantin Korovin to Fyodor Fedorovsky. Sketch scenery and authentic costumes of singers saw Anastasia Pavlova. The most colorful performance in the history of the Bolshoi was the production of "Nuremberg Meistersingers", on which the artist Fyodor Fedorovsky worked. The most frequently-sounding opera is Lohengrin, which was performed by Leonid Sobinov and Antonina Nezhdanova, among others. And the performer even celebrated his anniversary with this performance. The opera "Valkyrie" was staged on the stage of the theater, including Sergey Eisenstein. Immediately after the signing of the non-aggression pact, Molotov and Ribbentrop came to this production. Wagner at the Bolshoi Theatre is a rich topic, a timely topic. Our task, I think, is to make Moscow’s life as one of the world’s cultural capitals richer. Wealth – someone says: so many billions, and we say: so many Mozart, Verdiev, Wagnerov’s operas, – said the General Director of the Bolshoi Theatre, People’s Artist of Russia Valery Gergiev. There are only four dozen sketches of artists Korovin, Golovin, Fedorovsky and photographs of productions. And the staff received not reportage, but staged. “It’s now we have a performance and at the same time the photographer takes several pictures in a second, and then it was a very long exposure, the artists had to freeze, everything had to stand, do not move, God forbid!” – said the Director of the Museum of the Bolshoi Theatre Lydia Harina. The exhibition includes posters, photographs, sketches, as well as unique costumes of productions from 1894 to the 2000s. Here are the main characters of the opera Lohengrin. The dress of Elsa – it shone on the stage Elizabeth Shumskaya. And this is the costume of Ivan Kozlovsky, who played the main role in the production in 1923. More than five hundred times the operas of the great composer Richard Wagner were staged on the Bolshoi stage. In the funds of the museum of the theater a huge amount of evidence, the exhibition contained only a small part of them.
