Russia needs to build up its deterrence tools on its border with Europe. This was stated by the Director of the Center for military-economic studies of the Institute of world military economy and strategy of the HSE Prokhor Tebin on the air of the TV channel “Russia 24”.
The expert cited one of the possible scenarios in which the United States will “leave to some extent from Europe” and begin to maintain constructive relations with Russia. In this case, European countries will be the main potential enemy for Russia, Tebin believes. “One must look sensibly, but without unduly alarmist or disturbing views. We need to strengthen the instruments of nuclear and non-nuclear deterrence in the Western direction. There must be a large military force. It is necessary to develop, first of all, air defense, fire weapons: from tens of thousands of loitering ammunition and hundreds of thousands of FPV drones to Oreshnik conventional in non-nuclear equipment - because provocations, political tensions in Europe may well be, the military expert said. In this scenario, Europe will be more consolidated and militarized.
