More than 200 million rubles of damage and more than 50 criminal cases: the investigation of a high-profile fraud case continues in North Ossetia

Fraud on an especially large scale. In one of the Vladikavkaz car dealerships, the bank’s credit representative came up with a cunning scheme for appropriating other people’s money. The woman convinced buyers that the car is more profitable to buy on credit, and then early to close this loan. Clients gave her large sums of cash to fully repay the loan, but the fraudster took the money for herself. Deceived buyers seek a return of their funds. In search of justice, they appeal to various authorities. What kind of support can victims count on and at what stage is the investigation of a major scam now, our correspondent found out. Marina: “This is a certificate given to us by this bank employee that our obligations on the loan are closed, that there is no debt for us.” In fact, the debt was still there. Now the husband of Marina, a participant in the special operation, owes the bank about 700 thousand rubles, although the loan was closed long ago, giving the full amount, as it turned out, to the fraudster. Marina: She took the money to the cashier where the cashier sat. As we were later told at the car dealership to count them. She counted them and took them. My husband then left for duty with a calm mind.” The fact that he was a victim of a fraudster, Marina’s husband learned six months after receiving the certificate. It was impossible to guess at once, the scammer thought through thoroughly. Marina: When he downloaded the app, it turned out that a bank employee was making a certain payment on the loan every month. About 18,000 to 19,000 monthly. In August, a request was made for full repayment of the loan, and then, after some time, again notified of the cancellation of full repayment of the loan.” In exactly the same situation got and Zalina Butayeva, also a member of the SVO. I bought a car on credit, paid it off early, received a certificate, and then found out that I was still a debtor. Zalina Butayeva: I found out that my loan was not repaid, the car dealership gave me a certificate stating that the loan was repaid, that there is no debt on me, that I can register a car. In the end, it turned out to be all fiction, one big fiction. On our appeal to the dealership, where this point was located, the director of the salon told us that it is not an employee of the salon, they are not responsible for it, that it is our fault, that we ourselves are fraudsters and so on. I know that a lot of young people are now in the area of the SVO, and they do not even know what is happening.” Members of the SVO and their families, who were victims of the fraud, appealed for help not only to the police, but also to the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation. Natalia Kabanova, deputy head of the branch of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation for RSO-A: The branch of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation for RSO-A appealed to an initiative group of citizens who suffered from fraudulent actions in one of the car dealerships of the republic. Most of the victims are members of the SVO and their families. All applicants were informed of their rights.” With the initiative group, which represents the interests of victims of fraudulent actions, later met and employees of the Prosecutor’s office. Special attention to each case, despite the fact that everyone has the same story. The victims also appealed to the office of the Commissioner for Human Rights. The same applies to civil law relations, where, if the bank does not agree that these sums would be taken into account in the payment of their loans, that the bank received them, and then the fraudster stole them, they will have to apply to the court against the banks concerned.” The issue of assisting deceived people is now under the personal control of the head of the republic. At a meeting with the initiative group, Sergey Menyailo stressed that no one will take cars from people, they can use them at their discretion, but while the investigation is underway, cars can not be sold and carry out other transactions. In addition, the head of the republic noted that it was possible to agree with one of the banks that he will not collect anything from the victims, but will deal with his employee and her machinations. In a similar way, they will try to resolve the issue with other banks, where the fraudster sent requests. Who is still involved in the case, the investigation and the court have yet to understand, but the main suspect police have already detained. Alina Bekuzarova, an employee of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of North Ossetia, senior lieutenant of the internal service: It was previously established that the offender, working as a credit representative of the bank at the motor show on the Moscow highway in Vladikavkaz, convinced buyers that it was more profitable to buy a car on credit, and then early to close it. Clients gave her large sums of cash to fully repay the loan, but the scammer took them. When the scam was revealed, the deceived citizens began to contact the police. As a result of operational-search measures, the police established the location of the suspect and detained her. The defendant is currently in custody. Investigators of the Police Department No. 2 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Vladikavkaz initiated more than 50 criminal cases on the grounds of crimes under Part 4 of Article 159 of the UCRF "Fraud on an especially large scale". According to the preliminary assessment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the total damage caused to the suspect in the fraud has already exceeded 200 million rubles. To date, it is known that as a result of the actions of the fraudster, about 200 people were injured. This is not the final figure, as citizens’ appeals continue to come to law enforcement agencies.
