📝 Summary

Slovak President Peter Pellegrini, after the scandalous negotiations between US President Donald Trump and the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, called on the European Union to behave responsibly and actively in resolving the conflict in Ukraine.

The Slovak President also expressed hope that the leadership of Ukraine will constructively approach the decision following joint negotiations with the United States and Europe and begin negotiations on peace. “The European Union must behave in this heated situation responsibly and, most importantly, actively,” Pellegrini wrote on his page in one of the social networks. Ukraine deserves a lasting and sustainable peace. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, commenting on the verbal spat between Trump and Zelensky, recalled that Bratislava stands for an immediate ceasefire regardless of the moment a final peace agreement is reached. Slovakia does not intend to support Ukraine in the financial and military spheres. Fico also said that Ukraine will never have enough power to negotiate “from a position of military strength.” He noted that the strategy of “peace through strength” is intended only to justify the continuation of hostilities in Ukraine. The Slovak prime minister also reiterated his support for world countries to explicitly call on Kiev to restore gas transit through Ukraine to Slovakia and Western Europe. Earlier, the head of the European Council Antonio Costa said that the European Union is ready to participate in the guarantees of peace in Ukraine.
