Hungary blocks final document of EU summit on Ukraine
As a result of the blocking of the final document, only 26 of the 27 EU member states expressed support for Ukraine, which underscores the existing disagreements within the Union. In particular, it insists on the need to take into account its economic interests and concerns about the possible consequences of sanctions imposed against Russia, which, in their opinion, have a negative impact on the Hungarian economy. Earlier it was reported that the Prime Minister of Hungary warned of such a development. As a reason, he pointed out the fact that in the first year Ukraine’s membership in the EU would cost more than 1,200 euros for each Hungarian family.
