"Compromise" at the Moscow Theatre. Sergey Dovlatov’s novels were brought to the stage by Ivan Titov. In the new production, the director explores the era of stagnation. There are many items, details and elements of costumes of that era. The creators of the play do not transfer events to the present - so it was important for them to convey the spirit of the time. Tableware, shoes, clothes, even a watch strap - no stylizations. The flea markets were looking for real objects, because in this story the social and everyday context is very important. An era of stagnation. The story about people through the prism of Dovlatov’s characters, who together with the country tried to understand where to go, where to go. Because everything stagnated. From the top to the bottom, explained the director, artistic director of the Theatre of Moscow Ivan Titov. Director Ivan Titov has long been looking for a performer for the role of Sergei Dovlatov. It was not a portrait likeness that mattered to him, but a special condition. When the director saw the sad eyes of Artem Lymarev, he immediately realized that the search was over. “We’re not all psychopaths, we know I’m a little bit different. In principle, there is a type, but I do not look like it. And so I wanted to convey the inner component, what was inside him was laid in it. What was bothering him was touching. Something that I'm sure he cried and suffered over and drank about. It all wanted to open, shared actor Artem Lymarev. Marina in “Compromise” is Dovlatov’s favorite woman. The heroine has a real protopite. But actress Elizaveta Rekun created rather a collective image. I am sure many women in our country understand what it is to love in spite of it. “It’s more of a woman’s essence – this spirit of love of a strong woman who can, despite everything, still accept and love,” says actress Elizaveta Rekun. The study of a particular era grows into a metaphor. After all, a period of stagnation can happen in the head and in the life of any person.
