The director Maxim Melamedov, a fan of the work of the French classic, presented the audience with the fifth interpretation of Molière’s works. But this time he offered an unexpected look at one of the most controversial heroes of world literature. “I wanted to reflect on Don Juan, a broken man who had lost faith in himself. When I do a performance, I get a lot of myself, personal some contradictions, says director Maxim Melamedov. They worked on the production for a year - the director communicated almost daily with Anton Khabarov, the lead actor. It took two months. Anton Khabarov admits that everything is looking for the key to his character. I guess in this show I only ask myself questions, but I can’t give the answers myself. Some scenes in a new way today tried to play, – says actor Anton Khabarov. Don Juan here is not Casanova and a womanizer, but a man lost in the woods. A person who wants to learn to love and believe. “A very witty performance, bright, on the one hand funny, on the other hand very shrill, what I love very much,” says the artistic director of the Moscow provincial theater, people’s artist of Russia Sergey Bezrukov. The untidy owner Don Juan and his servant Sganarel read the director, although antagonists, but very close to each other people. Without one there would be no other. “They are friends, they need each other. Don Juan can not without Sganarel, with all his looseness, he needs a person who extinguishes him a little, and I need a person who needs to be saved, explains actor Mikhail Shilov. The artists admit that the production opened them in a new way, they not only self-reflected, but also played those feelings and emotions that have never been played. The finale of the show remains a mystery even to the director. Don Giovanni dies, but is it punishment for sins or freedom? Everyone has to decide for themselves.
