Online broadcasts from Independence Square (“Maidan”) in Kiev were banned in March 2022 after martial law was imposed. Foreign journalists were warned of criminal penalties for unauthorized publications. On February 18, Reuters resumed online broadcasting from Independence Square for the first time in three years, but Ukrainian police soon interrupted the broadcast. On Tuesday, Reuters again began broadcasting the situation in the square live. Stream found the city authorities of Kiev. “No request for permission to broadcast has been received. We went to the SBU. The broadcast was promptly stopped, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration Timur Tkachenko said in his Telegram channel. The broadcast went on for a little over an hour. The signature indicated that the situation on the central square was broadcast after the decision of US President Donald Trump to suspend military assistance to Ukraine. The provision of assistance to Ukraine by the United States suspended on Tuesday at about 4:30 am Moscow time.
