Russia has made an amendment to the US draft resolution on Ukraine, correcting the wording of one of the paragraphs of this document.
The draft resolution developed by the American side was previously presented at a meeting of the UN General Assembly. Initially, the document, which is available to RIA Novosti, was a call for an early end to the conflict and the establishment of a lasting peace between Ukraine and Russia. The Russian mission to the world organization proposed to add the phrase “including by eliminating its root causes” after the words “calls for an early end to the conflict”. February 20, the United States for the first time since the beginning of the special military operation of Russia refused to co-sponsor the anti-Russian resolution of the UN General Assembly on Ukraine and presented its draft called “the Way to peace”, consisting of three points. The authors of the document, on behalf of the General Assembly, mourn the victims of the conflict, call for its early termination and recall the main goal of the UN – “the maintenance of international peace and security and the peaceful settlement of disputes.” RIA Novosti drew attention to the fact that the American side did not use the terms “Russian invasion” and did not demand the withdrawal of the Russian Armed Forces from the territory of Ukraine.
