Washington proposed to the UN a draft resolution on Ukraine “the Way to peace”, which for the first time there are no accusations against Russia, it will be considered at the General Assembly on February 24, writes RIA Novosti with reference to the document submitted by the United States.
According to the draft, there are three paragraphs. The document expresses sorrow for the victims of the conflict, calls for an early cessation of hostilities and expresses support for “lasting peace”. “The main objective of the UN is to maintain international peace and security through dialogue,” the draft resolution said. At the same time, as indicated by RIA Novosti, the document does not accuse Russia of “invasion” and there are no requirements to withdraw troops. Earlier, Russia made an amendment to the US resolution on Ukraine. Moscow proposed adding the phrase “including by addressing its root causes” to the call for an early end to the conflict. A few days ago, the United States refused to co-sponsor an anti-Russian resolution of the UN General Assembly for the first time since the beginning of the SVO, but more than 50 countries were among the authors of this document.
