The presentation of the national project "Data Economy and Digital Transformation of the State" took place in the national center "Russia". The new initiative was presented by Deputy Prime Minister – Head of the Government Office Dmitry Grigorenko.
Over the past five years, the contribution of the IT industry to Russia’s GDP has almost doubled, and the number of specialists employed in the high-tech sector has increased by one and a half times. The new national project on the economy of data should be the next step in the digital development of the country, said the head of the Cabinet. “The key emphasis is the development of solutions that work on the basis of accumulated data, and the creation of technological tools that allow to increase the efficiency of performing any tasks,” Grigorenko explained. His words are quoted on the government website. Among the key goals until 2023, in particular, the launch of the Russian satellite constellation of 292 devices, the creation of industry platforms (such as My School, Universities, Science, Safe Environment and Smart City), the full digitalization of public administration and the transition to 100% paperless document management, the introduction of artificial intelligence in the economy, social sphere and public administration, the development of quantum and telecommunication technologies. At the same time, we pay special attention to security: we create a legal environment that not only protects against cyber threats, but also creates conditions for the development of innovations. Earlier, the Ministry of Digital Services of the Russian Federation reported that the volume of investments in the IT industry for the first 9 months of 2024 increased by 62%, reaching 429.4 billion rubles, the number of employees in this sector reached more than 990 thousand people.
