The 25th package of sanctions announced by Japan is illegitimate and confirms the anti-Russian course of this country. This was stated by the Russian Ambassador to Japan Nikolai Nozdrev.
He also called the move by the Japanese administration evidence of short-sighted policy. “As for our countermeasures, we have repeatedly warned Tokyo that hostile actions in any case will not remain without a reaction,” the Russian ambassador said in a conversation with RIA Novosti. In this case, Russia will not work in the format of a response for the sake of a response. On the contrary, the Russian side is extremely calibrating its decisions and will act, perhaps without reference to specific sanctions of Japan. On February 9, it was reported that Japan imposed sanctions against three Russian financial organizations – Timer Bank, RFK Bank and TsMRbank, as well as against 11 individuals and 29 legal entities from Russia. For his part, Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko noted that since the beginning of the special military operation (SVO) of Russia in Ukraine, Japan has introduced 25 packages of sanctions against Russia, which negatively affected bilateral relations.
