As of March 1, 2025, Russia’s international reserves amounted to $632.355 billion. This is 11.59 billion (1.87%) more than in early February, follows from the data on the website of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.

Foreign exchange reserves for the month increased by 0.18% and amount to 414.971 billion dollars. The value of monetary gold increased by 5.26% and amounted to 217.384 billion dollars. The amount of money in foreign currency has also increased. Now this figure is equal to 387.128 billion dollars. A month earlier, it was equal to 386.377 billion dollars. Russia’s international reserves are assets held by the Central Bank and the government. They consist of assets in foreign currency, monetary gold, special drawing rights (the currency of the International Monetary Fund), reserve positions in the IMF and others. Due to Western sanctions, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation is limited in the management of a significant part of international reserves. Assets worth $320 billion have been frozen in Western banks. Only gold and reserves in Chinese yuan were not restricted.
