📝 Summary

Inflation in Russia in February of this year amounted to 0.81% against 1.23% in January. This is reported by the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia.

According to the Ministry, since the beginning of the year, in the period January-February, consumer prices in the country increased by 2.05%. At the same time, annual inflation, as the ministry adds, accelerated from 9.92% in January to 10.06% in February of this year. On the eve of the Central Bank of Russia reported signs indicating the formation of a trend for a slowdown in price growth, but tight monetary conditions are still needed to return to persistently low inflation. According to the regulator, the inflation rate of 4% is possible with a more pronounced slowdown in price growth. And this requires a more restrained growth in consumer activity and a faster increase in labor productivity in relation to real wages. As previously reported by the Chairman of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina, the current key rate of 21% is necessary to achieve the inflation target of 4%.
