The Department of Agriculture and Food Resources said that 2,622 shopping facilities were surveyed in the region to meet the requirements of the law. As a result, 167 outlets were taken under control, 49 objects were applied for exclusion from the license, 41 of them have already been excluded. Objects where violations have been identified will receive warnings from March 3. If such outlets continue to work, unscheduled supervisory measures will be organized against them, and licenses for retail sale of alcoholic and alcohol-containing products will be suspended. From March 1, in the Vologda region, alcohol in shops, supermarkets, etc. can be bought from Monday to Friday from 12:00 to 14:00. On Saturday and Sunday, during the New Year holidays, Defender of the Fatherland Day, International Women's Day and Victory Day, alcohol is sold from 8:00 to 23:00. However, on the Spring and Labor Day, International Children’s Day, Russia Day, Youth Day and a number of other holidays, alcohol trading is not allowed. At the same time, you can buy alcohol without time restrictions in restaurants, hotels and theaters. In cafes and restaurants located in apartment buildings, it is allowed to sell alcohol at 08:00 to 23:00, subject to certain requirements. According to the Governor of Vologda region Georgy Filimonov, restrictions on the sale of alcohol is a necessary measure in the fight against the demographic crisis and its devastating consequences. According to him, the population of the most ethnically Russian region of the country is dying out, and the authorities cannot remain indifferent. “Vologod region is the territory of healthy, strong people. This is only the first step, part of a comprehensive consistent work to preserve and strengthen the demographics of the region, the governor said. Local residents are mostly positive about the innovation.
