The Russian government has allowed the use of biometric data for ticketing and boarding long-distance trains from September 1, 2025. This follows from the resolution on the website of publication of legal acts.

📝 Summary
The Russian government has allowed the use of biometric data for ticketing and boarding long-distance trains from September 1, 2025. This follows from the resolution on the website of publication of legal acts.
Identification and authentication of the passenger when issuing a ticket will be carried out using the appropriate state information systems. The use of biometrics will be possible if the carrier has the necessary technical capabilities. Earlier, plans to test the boarding of the train on biometrics and the corresponding government decree were reported in the office of Deputy Prime Minister – head of the Cabinet of Ministers Dmitry Grigorenko. Closed testing of the service will be launched, and at the end of all tests, passengers themselves will be able to use the service. Biometrics may be an alternative, but it will not replace a paper document.
