📝 Summary
Convicted for fraud, the founder of the financial pyramid “MMM” Sergey Mavrodi, who died in Moscow in March 2018, left no heirs.
This follows from the materials that were familiar with RIA Novosti. Under the current legislation, the recipients of the inheritance have the right to accept it within six months from the date of death of the testator. If this period is missed, they must go to court to restore it. Since the death of Mavrodi and to date, the hereditary case has not been opened, follows from the materials. Mavrodi in 1989 created a joint-stock company "MMM", which became the largest financial pyramid in the history of Russia. In 2003 he was detained on suspicion of fraud on an especially large scale and subsequently sentenced to four and a half years in prison. Mavrodi was released from prison in 2007. Victims in the case of the financial pyramid recognized more than 10 thousand people. The damage from the activities of MMM exceeds 110 million rubles, the agency said. In January 2011, Mavrodi created a new pyramid called MMM-2011, which soon collapsed. After that, he opened MMM-2012. In May 2012, Mavrodi was again prosecuted. According to the database of bailiffs, as of July 2024, the total debt of Mavrodi exceeded 1.6 billion rubles. Earlier it became known that the Bank of Russia during 2024 disclosed the activities of more than five thousand fraudulent projects, almost two thousand illegal participants in the securities market and 1.5 thousand black creditors. In early 2025, it became known that Sberbank identified 10 credit pyramid schemes, which affected 2.3 thousand people. The bank managed to save 1.6 billion rubles of depositors from such scammers.
