A 34-year-old resident of Tomsk told airport staff that he had no goods to declare. At the same time, he had a rare sea coral in his bag, which is endangered. “A sea coral weighing about 450 grams was found in his travel bag with an introscope. Later examination confirmed that the fragment belongs to the order Blue corals (Latin Helioporacea) and falls under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). Thus, its movement is possible only if there are permits and declarations, the statement said. Two cases of administrative offense were initiated on the facts of non-declaration of goods and non-compliance with the established prohibitions.
