Traveler from Shushenskoye Valeriy Petrovich plans to set a new record.

A resident of Shushenskoye has already packed his backpack for another journey. This time to Lake Baikal. Before his trip to the deepest lake in the world, Valery Petrovich met with fellow villagers. He is a participant in the international winter sports festival "Winteriada 2025". Valery Petrovich, the traveler, said, "A separate nomination 'Baikal Mile. Place of Power' has been allocated for me. I have declared my route, which is 2200 kilometers long – the perimeter of Baikal." He registered his route in the international record book "Interrecord". For the man, Baikal is the meaning of life. A reason to test his strength in a battle with the elements and discover his capabilities. Valery Fyodorovich is 76 years old. During meetings, he shares stories of his adventures. The Shushenskoye traveler has tried to anticipate all the difficulties he may encounter on the way. To do this, he prepared equipment, a tent, a sleeping bag, a gas burner, snow and ice grips, skis, mountaineering crampons, and a sled, which is more of a multifunctional mobile module. He designed it himself. Valery Petrovich, the traveler, said, "My own know-how. I will surprise the Baikal residents with this design. I wonder why no one has thought of this before. Why drag on skis over bare ice when you can use wheels, like a rickshaw, just keep moving your legs, and they will push you on their own." The traveler has a tradition of appeasing the spirits. He drops coins into the first crack on the lake. This time, he dedicates his journey to Lake Baikal to the birthday of the Shushenskoye district. He plans to circumnavigate the deepest lake in the world in 55 days.
