📝 Summary
Parents of the Russian Federation will be able to purchase tickets for children from 10 to 18 years old on long-distance trains with a 50% discount. This measure will operate year-round. This is reported by the press service of the Sverdlovsk railway with reference to the decree of the Russian government. Preference in the amount of 50% of the adult fare is provided when buying a ticket in the common carriages of long-distance trains of all categories except high-speed. And also in cars of the second and third classes of motor-car rolling stock. In compartment cars of double-decker trains, the ticket price for children will be comparable to half the cost of travel for an adult passenger in a reserved carriage. Parents do not need to present a certificate from an educational institution. The benefit applies to both schoolchildren and students of colleges, technical schools, universities. Note that since 2016, a 50% discount in the summer period for children from 10 to 18 years old was provided by Russian Railways at their own expense. Over the past nine years, 24.5 million children have benefited from this opportunity.
