"Iranian Crafts" can be seen for the first time in the Ulyanovsk Regional Art Museum. From calligraphic panels with texts from the Koran to exquisite ceramics and metal products. 60 handmade items introduce visitors to the work of modern masters who develop various traditional styles and techniques. Oriental art is characterized by an abundance of plant and geometric ornaments – this is due to the ban on the depiction of people and animals in Islam. The exhibition was organized with the assistance of the Cultural Representation of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Russia. “This exhibition presents about 60 works of various Iranian crafts, such as carpets, miniatures, wood inlays, metal heat treatment, mosaics and toreutics,” said Dawood Mirzakhani, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kazan.
