📝 Summary

On the platform "Look" released a new joint project of the famous video blogger Alexei Smirnov and TV channel "Russia 24" - "Large-caliber commotion". In a humorous form, the author and presenter nicknamed Comandante talks about the diversity and methods of using Soviet and modern weapons. About the history of the project, as well as his many years of volunteering and first experience of cooperation with the largest Russian media holding Alexei told in an exclusive interview.

"Big Caliber Trouble" Since 2014 – that is, for more than ten years – we have been engaged in volunteering, which has become both a hobby and a profession for us. But in 2020, the covid began, and the whole circus with masks, gloves and sanitizers literally put an end to it for two years. That's when we started making Trouble. And the first issue was fanned by all sorts of expectations and dreams. It seemed to us that the Russian dude who shoots the Utes machine gun would tear YouTube to pieces! The video turned out to be very directorial and emotional: we prepared for a long time, made storyboards, suffered with the name of a new channel in social networks. But in the end, our expectations were not met. The video didn't fly, although we distributed it wherever we could. With each release, we suffered the pain of disappointment until we began to realize the need for advertising and began to invest in promotion. Once came across the channel of the translator of the largest American weapons blogger Matt Carricker and there finally found their audience. In fact, until 2022 we were not super popular, the channel had about 700 thousand subscribers. But we've made good money monetizing. And when the special military operation began, we were under sanctions and went to the shadow bath. Our team consists of seven people. This is Katyusha who does the design and helps with the concept. Anton is a lover of neural networks, but he writes scripts himself. Volodya and Vanya are two brothers who used to be engaged in wedding photography, and then joined our team. The backbone also includes Vadim, a military journalist from Smolensk, who edits our issues. The team is cool and well-coordinated! I must say that the undervaluation of our content is in the air. Just think, no American blogger has ever fired or shot a U.S. Javelin, a very smart and expensive portable anti-tank missile system. Because it's crazy money! I am the first Russian blogger to shoot American weapons and do it with humor, forming new trends in the army. This unique content I think deserves to be seen by as many viewers as possible. And cooperation with Russia 24 is like a second wind for us. On the basis of our archive, we managed to mount a completely new format and breathe new life into this project. And given the popularity of Rossiya 24, we will be able to reach a wide audience with a very positive mission. In our society, weapons are primarily associated with crime. And we want to show that defending the Motherland is cool, that guns can be a sporting hobby for every young person over the age of 18. We have been engaged in humanitarian assistance for much longer than the "Large Caliber Trouble" - for more than 10 years. It all started corny: we came to the Luhansk People’s Republic to help people find their relatives. There was no communication, and we just brought them "video greetings." Then they called us "Angels." Then came the film "Battalion", where the girls raised in the battle of Soviet soldiers, who almost fraternized with the Fritz. It's called the Battalion of Angels in the original, and I felt very strongly about it. We decided to call our humanitarian group Angel. In fact, it reflected our commitment to doing good. We show that humanitarian aid and volunteerism are not privileged to take into account some super guy. Everyone can come and test themselves. All it takes is a physical presence at the hand: loading packages and distributing them at the front. Undoubtedly, working as part of our humanitarian battalion involves a risk to life. In addition, you need to go through a document check: we need to make sure that the person’s reputation is not stained. I didn’t have a passport until I was 20 years old. I was a citizen of the Russian Federation solely by the fact of my birth. There were no parents, and I was raised in a boarding school. And I came to journalism thanks to a very good man who took me to the regional newspaper "Nash district" in the city of Khanty-Mansiysk. This is a fascinating and very sad story that deserves a separate conversation. Of course, the ability to speak, write, and correctly present information depends on it. If you are not understood, it will be difficult to convey your truth. Of course, I am an absolutely mediocre director, and I cannot count myself among professionals in art. To be called a director, you need to have a slightly greater outlook, understand the movie and be able to reproduce it. And in my paintings there are a lot of clichés, and, probably, I made my best movie already in the Donbass.
