Vodka production in Russia fell by 26% to a minimum since 2017
In the first two months of 2025, the volume of vodka production in Russia reached 7.6 million decaliters, which was the lowest figure for the same period since 2017. According to Rosalkogoltabakkontrol, this is 26.3% less than in January-February 2024.

In January-February 2025, the output of these products increased by 14.8% and amounted to 5.1 million decaliters. Sparkling wines showed even higher growth rates, the production of which increased by 16.1% to 2.4 million decaliters. However, other categories of alcoholic beverages showed a sharp decline in volumes. The production of beverages from grapes without the addition of ethyl alcohol decreased by 2.6 times, to 18.1 thousand decaliters. Drinks containing ethyl alcohol lost 9.7 times, amounting to almost 1.3 million decaliters. The output of fruit alcohol products decreased by 8.3 times, to 241.2 thousand decaliters. At the end of February, Pavel Shapkin, head of the Center for the Development of National Alcohol Policy and chairman of the National Union for Consumer Protection, announced the upcoming increase in prices for Russian sparkling wines. According to him, by March 8, the cost of these products will increase by 10%. Among the reasons for the rise in prices, he called an increase in excise taxes by 5% from January 1 and a shortage of bottles.
