📝 Summary

More than 2 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are experiencing acute shortages of food and basic necessities, Qatari TV channel Al Jazeera reported.

Nearly 2.3 million people are without food, medicine and basic necessities as Israel has banned humanitarian aid to Gaza. The fuel needed to heat homes and power generators has not been delivered to Gaza for a week, Al Jazeera said. “The residents of the Gaza Strip are looking for any materials suitable for the construction of housing among the rubble,” the channel said. Israel and Hamas, brokered by the United States, Egypt and Qatar, agreed to a ceasefire in Gaza from January 19. The first phase of the agreement ended on March 1, with 33 Israeli hostages, including the bodies of eight dead, returned to Israel. In exchange, Israel released 1,500 Palestinians from prison, some of them deported from Gaza. On March 2, Israel cut off supplies of humanitarian aid to Gaza and closed all checkpoints (checkpoints) due to Hamas’ refusal to accept a plan by US special envoy Stephen Whitcoff to continue talks on a ceasefire in the enclave.
