"One Hundred Troubles" - the Vakhtangov Theatre premiered a play based on the works of Emir Kusturica. On the stage, sketches from Serbian life and musical numbers are woven into a single canvas – a story about the difficulties of growing up and the triumph of love. Evgeny Krakow will continue. Reading a collection of short stories by Serbian filmmaker and musician Emir Kusturica “One Hundred Troubles” inspired Galina Salzman to create the production of the same name. These are stories about the childhood and youth of the Serbian director and topics close to everyone: family, friendship, finding yourself, and love. And all this in the face of an impending catastrophe – war. “Our Slavic peoples are consonant with our perception of reality and the knowledge that life will win anyway,” says director Galina Saltzman. Three stories unfold in three Yugoslav cities – Travnik, Sarajevo and Belgrade. In everyday bustle live: a father who forgot about the birthday of his son, a teenager, bitten by a dog, a mother who got into the hospital. Against the backdrop of personal problems, the tragedy is global. We know her from 1999. The narrator, the author, the "ghost" of the play himself Emir Kusturica. For maximum immersion in the image, actor Yevgeny Kravchenko tried to study everything - all the books, all the films of the Serbian creator and about him. “The task was at the rehearsal that you should take a small step every day to become more like the Emir,” says actor Yevgeny Kravchenko. A separate character here is music. The performance is deliberately imbued with works from Kusturica’s films, helping the authors of the production, as they themselves admit, understand “how its reality became art.” In two hours, the viewer manages to “live” 30 years, becoming a kind of witness to the key events of Yugoslavia – from the 70s to the end of the XX century. Where March is of particular importance. “The action takes place in March, which is quite important for Serbia. Because the main events took place inside the country in the spring, during the war in Serbia, says director Galina Salzman. Almost nothing was sewn for the performance, authentic costumes were found on flea markets and on the Internet. Scenario is more difficult. Here and the cinema, where the young Kusturica visited, and the street, and the house, and the basement with a swimming pool, according to the original idea - the bathroom. “An old tub in which the carp swims, but we decided that the aquarium would look much better because it is transparent. Unfortunately, we could not launch a live carp there, it would not coexist well with an artist who swims and drowns there, explains the artist-scenographer Semyon Shepherd. This is the accent of Kusturica himself, who often repeats "love is the only motivation of life, its only meaning.".
