The pilot of a light aircraft that made a hard landing in the Nizhny Novgorod region did not have a license to operate an aircraft, according to Baza.

According to the Telegram channel, there were a 58-year-old pilot and a 46-year-old passenger in the cockpit. Despite the pilot not having a license to operate, the plane took off. The owner of the aircraft, Alexey Bykov, believes that his plane was hijacked. He stated that about a year ago he put the aircraft up for sale, and in February 2025 a buyer was found. Bykov asked his acquaintance to show the plane to the buyer. It was only meant to be a visual inspection of the aircraft, and permission for flight was not granted. The owner's lawyer believes that the actions of the deceased pilot show signs of a crime under the Criminal Code article "Hijacking of an aircraft resulting in the unintentional death of a person." The aviation incident occurred on the morning of February 19 near the settlement of Novolikeevo in the Kstovsky district. As a result of a hard landing, the plane caught fire, and two people died. A criminal case was initiated regarding the violation of safety rules for air traffic and operation.
