In Veliky Novgorod, a citywide rally was held dedicated to the upcoming Defender of the Fatherland Day

Dozens of Novgorod citizens came today to the square of the "Military Glory" for a city-wide rally dedicated to the upcoming Defender of the Fatherland Day. After the performance of the national anthem, its participants honored the memory of the soldiers who did not return home with a minute of silence, and the servicemen produced a weapons salute. Speaking representatives of the authorities congratulated everyone on this important date, recalled the heroic pages in the history of our city and wished that in the future, a peaceful sky reigned over the Novgorod region. The veterans of the special military operation also spoke before Novgorod residents. Dmitry Kuzmichev is now engaged in the patriotic education of the Novgorod youth, but recently he himself stood in defense of the homeland. He told the participants of the rally about the feat of his fellow soldier - company commander Pavel Gorbokonenko, who for the courage and heroism shown in the performance of military duty, was awarded the title "Hero of Russia" posthumously. In memory of the dead soldiers, Novgorodians laid flowers and wreaths to the stele of the “city of military glory”. Another memorial is scheduled for February 23. It will be held at ten o'clock at the memorial "Eternal flame of glory" in the Kremlin.
