Belgium will be able to start deliveries of F-16 to Kiev no earlier than the end of 2025

In April last year, former Defense Minister Ludivine Dedonder said the kingdom could deliver its F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine before the end of 2024. At the same time, in December, the Belgian Defense Ministry announced that it would not be able to fulfill its promise. "We expect to start deliveries by the end of this year," the Belgian chief of staff said. Belgian authorities planned to start delivering their F-16s to Ukraine as soon as possible. In total, until 2028, the kingdom expected to hand over 30 such fighters to Kiev, but it was noted that the timing depends on the transfer of the F-35 to Brussels. The program for the development, commissioning and use of the American fifth-generation fighter F-35 has failed, says Responsible Statecraft columnist Dan Grazer. According to him, the aircraft has limited military capabilities and continues to be produced not because of its qualities, but because of the benefits for the defense industry. American billionaire Elon Musk called the F-35 program “the worst military decision in history in terms of price and quality.”.
