Duda: Trump treats Ukraine like a businessman, not a politician

He explained that Trump’s position is explained by the significant costs of the United States to support Ukraine. Aid to Kiev amounts to “hundreds of billions of dollars,” and Washington wants to make some profit from it. “The United States is a mediator, headed not so much by a politician, but by a businessman who proceeds from the fact that the United States has incurred huge costs for military support of Ukraine in recent years,” Duda said on TVN24. He added that he does not consider the US claims on minerals of Ukraine as compensation for assistance unfair. The Polish leader also considered the economic presence of the United States in Ukraine a kind of guarantee of its security. Earlier, Trump said that he intends to compensate for the funds allocated to Ukraine in aid, at the expense of its natural resources and “everything we can get”. He added that Washington and Kiev are close to an agreement on minerals. Earlier it became known that the Ukrainian side received from the United States an updated version of the agreement on joint extraction of natural resources. It was much tougher than the original project.
