And communications scientists know that the greater the distance between the receiver and the transmitter, the signal power drops proportionally to the square. The second drawback of OneWeb, according to Ionin, is the number of devices. Its system has 640 devices, and Starlink already has 7 thousand. Thus, the density and volume of traffic is significantly higher. The third disadvantage of European satellites, the expert considers the lack of a communication channel. “The next drawback, which is a key у...у in military applications. Mask has a data transfer between satellites. There is an intersatellite communication channel. This allows you to transfer information very quickly between remotely located consumers without dropping it to Earth. <...> OneWeb has no intersatellite link. Therefore, to transmit information between any two consumers, it needs to use ground-based interface stations. This is a fairly large infrastructure, said Ionin. He added that the main shareholder of Eutelsat is an entrepreneur of Indian origin - he owns about 25%. Among the shareholders are the French government, the French foundation, and the British Crown Fund – they own about 10%.
