In an interview with Prime, the expert recalled that in 2024 the maximum amount of sick leave benefits was just over 4 thousand rubles. “The amount rose sharply due to the increase in the minimum wage, as indexation occurs annually. And, of course, over the past two years, wages have increased, which gives an impetus to the growth of sick leave payments, Kovalenko said. In 2026, payments are planned to increase to 6.8 thousand rubles a day, the expert said. She drew attention to the fact that the amount of the benefit depends on the insurance period and the salary of the employee. To calculate the amount, you need to multiply the number of days of illness by the percentage of payments for seniority, divide by 100 and then multiply by the average salary for a two-year period. Earlier, the Vice-Rector of the Financial University under the government of the Russian Federation Alexander Safonov on the air of Vesti FM explained why he considers the proposal of the Ministry of Labor on sick leave for the self-employed justified. In the autumn of 2024, the Russian government did not support the proposal to exempt temporary disability benefits from personal income tax.
