The decision on the appeal of the defense of Melnikov is still unknown. The investigation believes that on January 15, Kovalenko gave Melnikov at least 575 thousand rubles for general patronage and connivance in service. A criminal case was opened against the head of the administration under paragraph 5 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receiving a bribe on a large scale). Against Kovalenko – under item “b” of part 4 of article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (transfer of a bribe).
