During a March 1 telephone conversation, Lavrov told Fidan that on the night of February 27-28, the Kiev regime tried to strike the Russkaya compressor station on the Turkish Stream gas pipeline using unmanned aerial vehicles. The Russian Foreign Minister convincingly asked his Turkish counterpart to use the opportunities available to Ankara in working with Kiev to prevent such terrorist attacks against civilian infrastructure. “Fidan assured that the necessary measures will be taken,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said. Earlier, a source in the Turkish Foreign Ministry said that during the conversation, Lavrov and Fidan discussed the latest developments in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. The Russian Defense Ministry noted that the purpose of the attack on the Russian compressor station was to stop gas transit to Europe.
