The second cassation court in Moscow rejected the complaint of the former editor-in-chief of Novaya Gazeta Dmitry Muratov (recognized as a foreign agent) to refuse to remove his status as a foreign agent, RIA Novosti reports.
According to court documents, Muratov was added to the register, including for direct contacts with foreign sources, providing him with support in the form of information platforms for foreign agents to place materials. In particular, the former editor-in-chief of Novaya Gazeta took part in the creation of materials for Deutsche Welle and Voice of America (foreign media), journalist Yuri Dud and former chief editor of Echo of Moscow radio station Alexei Venediktov (foreign agents). It also shows that he is under foreign influence. In addition, Muratov in an interview with the official YouTube channel of the Odessa film studio expressed support for Ukraine. Dmitry Muratov was added to the register of foreign agents in September 2023.
