The Moscow district court of Nizhny Novgorod detained the former rector of Nizhny Novgorod State Linguistic University Zhanna Nikonova. She was sent to jail until April 26.
With a request for such a measure of restraint, an investigation came to the court. Nikonova’s lawyers insisted on house arrest, citing her health condition. Before the meeting, the ex-rector told reporters that she was not guilty of anything, reports RIA Novosti. Nikonova is suspected of fraud with employee awards. Also in the case is the Director of the Institute of Continuing Education Julia Chicherina. The total amount of damage from their actions is more than one million rubles. A criminal case has been opened for exceeding official powers.
