The court decided to detain the director of the Institute of Continuing Education of the Nizhny Novgorod Linguistic University (NGLU) Yulia Chicherin, the regional department of the TFR reported. The woman is suspected of exceeding official powers.
The period of detention is not specified. Chicherina was arrested on February 27. Another defendant in the case is ex-rector of NGLU Zhanna Nikonova. Earlier, the Moscow district court sent her to the pre-trial detention center for 2 months. According to the investigation, in the period from 2023 to 2024, the former rector of the university, on the basis of unfounded service and memoranda compiled by the director of the Institute of Continuing Education, illegally entered information on the accrual of incentive payments into the orders for bonuses for employees of the institute. Some of these funds were turned in their favor. The amount of illegally obtained funds exceeded 1 million rubles.
