Fugitive foreign agent faces life sentence in Russia

The money was spent as a fee for lectures given to students. But the deputy did not speak in Russia, but in Washington before the CIA. He sold the Americans a plan to overthrow the Russian government. “I have always said that I support violent methods of struggle,” Ponomarev admits. In 2022, Ponomarev had a new idea – to create a government in exile. In the Polish village of Jablonna gathered the messengers of the “Russian revolution”. “It only makes sense to go to Moscow. But the trigger for this will only be events inside Russia. We must provoke conflicts there, the foreign agent said. The transitional parliament, according to the authors, should lead the country after the overthrow of the current government. Until recently, we had a direct ban on doing anything on the territory of Russia, Ponomarev said. For his subversive activities Ponomarev receives grants from abroad. People close to the former deputy claim that at the end of each year he flies overseas to the US State Department with a report on the work done. “At present, Ponomarev’s main efforts are focused on creating conditions for maximum popularization of the government-in-exile headed by him to American and European sponsors. At the same time, the main goal of the united pseudo-deputies is the international recognition of their congress before the political circles of the countries that are part of the so-called Ramstein group - states that support Ukraine and provide it with financial and military assistance, the FSB operative said. The Congress of People's Deputies of Ilya Ponomarev is now held without Ponomarev. The government-in-exile split in two: the grants were not divided, the project crumbled. There are only criminal cases that will await the return of the emigrant to Russia.
