📝 Summary

Former Romanian presidential candidate Kalin Georgescu said he would continue to fight for the post of head of the republic.

At a thousands-strong rally in Bucharest, where participants demanded that the country’s authorities hold a second round of the presidential elections canceled in 2024, Georgescu thanked supporters who gathered 300,000 signatures in his support. “Of course, I will continue the fight and submit documents to register my candidacy for the presidency,” he said. Georgesk was previously charged with a number of crimes, including providing false information, creating a pro-fascist organization, acting against the constitutional order and popularizing war criminals. Georgescu won the first round of the Romanian presidential election, held on November 24, 2024. The vote was then annulled by the Romanian Constitutional Court. The first round of new presidential elections is scheduled for May 4.
