The Soviet District Court of Novosibirsk has sentenced Oleg Kabov, the head of the laboratory at the Institute of Thermophysics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, to five years of probation for fraud on an especially large scale. This information was reported by the press service of the general jurisdiction courts of the Novosibirsk region.

The Soviet district court of Novosibirsk has sentenced Oleg Kabov, the head of the laboratory at the Institute of Thermophysics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, to five years of probation for fraud on an especially large scale. This information was reported by the press service of the general jurisdiction courts of the Novosibirsk region.
The court found that Kabov provided knowingly false information about the implementation of research projects to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation from 2014 to 2016 in order to obtain federal subsidies and embezzled part of the funds. The total damage amounted to more than 7 million rubles. Kabov was sentenced to five years of probation with a probationary period of three years, and was also prohibited from leading the laboratory in the execution of regional, federal, and international scientific projects in the field of heat physics for a period of two years. The Ministry of Education and Science successfully recovered 7 million rubles from Kabov in a lawsuit. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
