The Irkutsk regional court sentenced 12 participants of the riot in penal colony No. 15 in Angarsk in the spring of 2020, finding them guilty of riots and disorganization of the activities of institutions that ensure isolation from society. Depending on the role of each, they were assigned from 5.5 to 21 years of imprisonment, the regional SU TFR reported.

The Irkutsk regional court sentenced 12 participants of the riot in penal colony No. 15 in Angarsk in the spring of 2020, finding them guilty of riots and disorganization of the activities of institutions that ensure isolation from society. Depending on the role of each, they were assigned from 5.5 to 21 years of imprisonment, the regional SU TFR reported.
The court found that in April 2020, a group of convicts refused to obey the legal requirements of the FSIN and organized riots. They set fire to production facilities in the industrial zone, causing significant damage to the facility. The prisoners disrupted the activities of the IC. Their illegal actions affected 18 people, including employees of the penitentiary system. More than 2,000 investigative and procedural actions and more than 500 forensic examinations were carried out. The criminal case amounted to 185 volumes. Taking into account the opinion of the state prosecutor, the court sentenced the perpetrators to imprisonment from 5.5 to 21 years with serving sentences in colonies of strict and special regimes. Three convicts will spend the first part of their sentence in prison.
