The Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that earlier the presence of this mark had a recommendatory nature, but interest in putting it among applicants has now increased. “Confirmation of citizenship of the Russian Federation for a child under 14 years is a mark indicating the grounds for acquiring Russian citizenship,” RIA Novosti quoted an excerpt from the materials of the Ministry. The mark is placed on the back of the birth certificate or on the text-free field of the translation into Russian of a foreign document that certifies the registration of the birth of a child, the Ministry of Internal Affairs explained. In 2025, the mark on the citizenship of the child is not mandatory and there are no penalties for its absence. However, in some situations, this recording is necessary. In particular, when setting or removing a child from the registration register at the place of residence, to obtain maternity capital, when issuing a child a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation, including a foreign one, for issuing subsidized air tickets, as well as for the departure of a child to Abkhazia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and South Ossetia, if he does not have a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation or he does not have a passport of a parent. You can put a stamp in the passport and visa service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Sakharovo multifunctional migration center in Moscow or in Russian diplomatic missions abroad. The decision on the application is made within five working days. On February 18, the State Duma adopted a law extending the maternity capital program until the end of 2030. Earlier, the chairman of the lower house of parliament Vyacheslav Volodin spoke about this need. Despite challenges, threats and Western sanctions, the state is not only fulfilling its current obligations in the field of social protection, but also implementing additional measures to support citizens.
