📝 Summary

Scammers began to call the Russians, posing as technical specialists of software companies. This was warned by the director of the product "Defender" MTS Andrey Biychuk.

He explained that the attackers report the fixation of suspicious activities on the devices and convince that it is necessary in this regard to conduct an urgent check to prevent data leaks. “The fraudster asks the victim to enable a screen demonstration on a mobile device or computer. This adds an element of trust, since the victim sees that the specialist allegedly “sets up protection” right in front of her eyes, Biychuk told RIA Novosti. Also, the fraudster does not request codes from SMS mailings, and this causes the victim even more trust, the expert warned. After that, the attacker claims that it is necessary to download the “protective” application. It allegedly ensures the security of the devices, explained Andrei Biychuk. He noted that in fact this application is needed by the criminal for remote access. If the victim installs it, the fraudster sees all the information on the screen in real time, and most importantly, accesses bank data. At the last stage, the attacker hastens the victim, threatening to lose access to the accounts. He's asking for an urgent password change. Getting all the information, he can transfer funds from a bank account or make purchases in online stores, the specialist added. The expert advised in such cases to stop taking actions to prompt the fraudster and call back the company number, which is listed on its official website.
