Novosibirsk teenager helped scammers take millions from elderly Muscovite

A 17-year-old teenager from Novosibirsk helped scammers take millions from an elderly resident of the city district of Solnechnogorsk, Moscow region. Information about this appeared in the telegram channel “MVD Media” on March 3, 2025. According to law enforcement officers, the phone of the 75-year-old pensioner called a man who introduced himself as an employee of the Pension Fund, and asked to name passport data for the recalculation of her seniority. The woman reported the information, and the conversation ended there. Later, the pensioner found out that thanks to these data, someone tried to enter her personal account of State Services, so she changed her password. Two days later, the elderly Muscovite received a call from an alleged employee of state security agencies. He said that according to her passport data, money was transferred to the territory of Ukraine, because of which a criminal case was opened against the pensioner. To avoid trouble, she was strongly advised to withdraw 540 thousand rubles from her bank account and transfer them to the courier for safety. The woman complied with the demands. However, the attackers did not stop there, under the pretext that some scammers are trying to sell the grandmother’s apartment, the scammers persuaded her to get ahead of potential intruders, and again transfer the money received through a courier. The victim did everything and gave the young man about four million rubles. Only after a while, the elderly woman realized that she had been deceived and went to the police. The courier, who took money from the pensioner from the sale of an apartment, was identified and detained by the police, who turned out to be a 17-year-old Novosibirsk man. The teenager explained that he found this work in one of the messengers. He was required to take money to addresses and transfer to accounts. Investigators opened a criminal case under the article “Fraud”, the Siberian was taken into custody. Earlier, Vesti Novosibirsk wrote that the failed businessman was sentenced for deception with social assistance. The court found that in 2023, the defendant applied to the Center for Social Support of the Population for social assistance. He wanted to start a private microgreen business. With the man signed a contract and gave 350 thousand rubles for the development of the case. However, he did not open any business in the end, and the money allocated simply spent on himself. At the same time, the Social Assistance Center provided false reports on the targeted use of funds. When law enforcement officers found out the fictitiousness of the documents provided and began to ask him uncomfortable questions, the defendant voluntarily partially compensated damages in the amount of 212 thousand rubles. But that certainly didn’t save him from a criminal trial.
